Rides 2007

Manchester Velodrome - November 2007

To celebrate Rob’s birthday, his daughters hired the Manchester Velodrome (Built in 1994 and used for the 2002 Commonwealth Games) for a private track riding session.

Fixed-wheel bikes, no brakes, steeply banked track - awesome!

Rob, daughters & partners and cycling chums spent the session, with guidance from Fred the coach, pounding the track … slowly and carefully at first, moving to considerable speed and getting well up the banking - with some timed laps to sort the men from the boys, and girls (Results withheld by request!)

MacRide - 9 September 2007

The third fund-raising event for Macmillan Cancer Support.  380+ riders rode 25, 50 or 63 miles in perfect cycling weather on South Warwickshire’s lanes.

As at the end of January 2008 we have raised about £20,300 from entries, sponsorship, donations and the MacRide jersey.  Cost of around only £200 mean that even more will be able to be spent locally by Macmillan.

Make a note in your diary : MacRide Sunday 7 September 2008.  Click here for the Macride website

Supported by : Soreen, Morrisons, Kall Kwik Printing, all of the companies that sponsored the MacRide jersey (still available, see the website) - the wonderful ladies of the Stratford Macmillan Committee with the catering - and many other businesses, clubs, organisations and volunteers

Some Bike it Hot - May 2007

Coronado, San Diego - a 25 mile ride along the peninsula, almost to the border with Mexico, and around Coronado Island - on a dreadful rental bike, in very, very hot conditions.

Picture : Film buffs will recognise the hotel Del Coronado where Some Like it Hot was filmed (with Tony Curtis cycling along the jetty to his yacht)

Biking the Bridge (again), San Francisco - April 2007

Riding from San Francisco, over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito (for a coffee stop) and then to Tiburon before taking the ferry (with bikes) back to San Francisco.  This time with Mrs Rob - and digital pictures.
