Rob’s Royal Ride - October 2006

Palace-to-Palace (P2P) for The Prince’s Trust - a 38 mile charity cycle ride from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle.  I am a Business Mentor for the Trust - working with young people starting their own businesses with financial help from the Trust

Having ridden the C2C, TPT, PCW, S2S and the E2E I thought the P2P would be a great opportunity to raise some funds; and to make the ride more challenging I did it on my fixed wheel bike (no gears and you can’t stop pedalling)  A great ride through London and out into the Berkshire villages.

MacRide - 2006

The second running of this fund-raising event for Macmillan Cancer Support.

250+ riders rode either 25 or 50 miles in brilliant sunshine around a new for 2006 route.

We are still counting the money coming in (at mid Sept 06) but we expect the amount raised to exceed 2005 by some margin … and the really great part is that our costs were less than £200 which means that even more will be able to be spent by Macmillan Cancer Support in Warwickshire.

Supported by : BBC Radio, Soreen, Morrisons, Halfords, Kall Kwik Printing - and many other businesses, clubs, organisations and volunteers

The Side-to-Side - June 2006

St David’s, Pembs. to Lowestoft, Suffolk

From the westernmost point in Wales to the easternmost point in England - 420 miles.  Ridden in 7 days, with Steve for the whole distance and with Martin who joined for the second half.

The story is online at Rob, Steve & Martin’s Side-to-Side

National Cycling Network - Route 41 - April 2006

On behalf of the local Sustrans group I organised an event to celebrate the opening of a newly signed 16 mile section of NCN Route 41 - connecting with NCN Route 5 and providing a link from Stratford-upon-Avon to Warwick, Leamington & Rugby. The ride attracted over 50 riders - including a BBC TV reporter and film crew.  A short opening ceremony was held at Charlecote House, approx midway on the new route.

BBC TV Midlands Today featured the ride - CLICK HERE <to follow> for QuickTime clip

Cycling+ Forum Fixed Wheel Ride - January 2006

A 45 mile jaunt from Long Eaton around some Nottinghamshire villages - enjoyed by 10 riders, all riding fixed-wheel bicycles (no gears - see my bicycles page)

Organised by Frenchie and Paul - including Crumbling Nick, Gordy and others I can’t remember
